Description
Scatec is a Norwegian renewable energy company, which builds and operates renewable energy plants in four continents. It was set up in 2007, and acquired the Norwegian state-owned hydropower company SN Power in 2021. Scatec’s largest shareholder is Norway’s state-owned Equinor ASA (formerly Statoil).
SN Power signed an MOU with Thein Sein’s government in 2014 to develop the 735 MW Middle Yeywa dam on the Namtu river in northern Shan State. In April 2021, Scatec revealed that development of the Middle Yewa dam was “on hold” due to the political situation.
